HARMONY
ASSEMBLAGE: Scrap steel, Driftwood, Dad’s Screwdriver
13” x 9” x 4”
Turning to welding when my father passed, as I cleaned out his workbench of steel items, where we had spent a lot of time together, tinkering. This body of work titled, “Puddles of Nothing" explores the transformation of emotions into form and vulnerability, while also exuding strength. The hybrid groupings of steel in my work grow in power as they come together, preserving the memory of place and person. These works encapsulate history, honoring the cycles of life, death, dissolution, and decomposition—ironically, through the medium of steel. The series serves as a meditation on evolution, revealing beauty in what is often overlooked. It is both an experience and a reminder of the brilliance embedded in the everyday—perhaps inventing a new future while rediscovering the past.
